CVT
UPGRADES
A CVT upgrade doesn't add horsepower. It decides where the power you already have reaches the road — off the line, through the midrange, or at the top end. We build the CVT around how you actually ride, using genuine Malossi.
What a CVT upgrade actually changes
Your scooter's CVT is a pair of cone pulleys and a belt. Engine revs spin the variator; rollers fly outward and squeeze the belt up the pulley; the clutch decides when drive engages. Change those parts and you change the shape of the pull — nothing else.
There are three things you can spend that on, and you cannot have all three at once:
- Launch — how hard it goes from a standstill
- Midrange — the 40–80 km/h roll-on you use in traffic
- Top end — what it will hold on an expressway
Buy launch and you give up top speed. Buy top speed and it feels lazy off the line. Any workshop promising you extra horsepower from a variator is selling you something that isn't there. What we can do is move your bike's strength to the part of the rev range you actually use.
Three set-ups we build most
Daily commute
Matched rollers and a softer contrast spring so the bike pulls away without judder and stops chewing belts. Often the fix for a bike that already feels wrong, not a performance job at all.
For: stop-start city riding, pillion loads, riders who hate the rubber-band feel.
Traffic-light punch
Malossi variator with tuned rollers and stiffer clutch springs. Engages higher, launches harder, and holds the midrange where Singapore riding actually lives.
For: riders who want the bike to feel quick where they ride it every day.
Top end
Full drive-side build — variator, torque driver and a Delta clutch system — geared to keep pulling past where a stock CVT gives up. Costs you low-down response.
For: expressway commuters and bigger-bore bikes that can use it.
What we fit, and what each part changes
CVT upgrades start at S$199. What yours costs depends on the bike — an Aerox is not a TMAX, and the parts that fit one won't fit the other. Tell us your model and we'll give you the number for it.
The parts below are genuine Malossi unless you ask otherwise. Prices are our nett published prices; the figures shown are the lowest we stock across models.

|---|---|---|
| Drive belt (X Special) | Power transfer and wear life | S$60 |
| HTRoll rollers | Where the variator shifts through the revs | S$56 |
| Variator springs | Shift-up point — how eagerly it climbs | S$58 |
| Contrast & clutch springs | Engagement rpm — how hard it launches | S$65 |
| Ventilvar 2000 half-pulley | Shift range, plus real CVT cooling | S$122 |
| Torsion Controller | Midrange response under load | S$127 |
| Maxi Delta Clutch | Engagement feel and heat tolerance | S$252 |

How it works
Not every bike needs this
Some riders come in wanting a race set-up and go home happier on a mild one. An aggressive CVT that revs hard is brilliant on an empty road and tiring on a daily commute — we've swapped riders back to stock when that turned out to be the case, and we'd rather do that than sell you something you quietly regret. If your bike just feels wrong, it's usually a worn belt or flat rollers, not a missing upgrade. That's a CVT service, and it's cheaper.
