CHIEF
MECHANIC
The role
Scooter Narcotics is Singapore's official Italjet distributor, and a workshop that works on nothing but scooters. This is the senior spanner on the floor β the person who decides whether a bike is actually ready to go back to its owner.
You'll take the hard jobs yourself: the faults nobody else could trace, CVT and transmission builds, full performance packages, Italjet warranty work. And you'll run the day around them β what gets booked in, what parts are on order, what a job should honestly cost, and what the customer gets told.
The work
What we're looking for
- Nothing comes back twice. When a part fails you work out why it failed, not just what β and you fix that too. A shredded belt is a symptom; something shredded it. Every overhaul is checked against a sign-off list before it leaves the bay, and this role owns that number.
- Precise. Torque wrench, spec sheet, and a second look before the bike leaves the bay. You check your own work β and you'd rather redo a job than hand back something you aren't sure about.
- Quote it properly β don't gamble. You quote for what the job can actually turn out to need, not the best case, so nobody gets a bigger number halfway through. And when a part measures marginal you replace it while the bike is already apart, instead of hoping it lasts. Leaving something borderline in to keep a quote low is how a workshop loses a customer for good.
- Deep on 4-stroke scooters β top end, valves, injection, electrics β and the diagnostic discipline to work a fault step by step, in order, instead of jumping to the answer you hope it is.
- Real performance-tuning experience. Variators, clutches, torque drivers, cams, fuelling and ECU modules. You understand why a combination works together, not just how to bolt each piece on.
- Can run a workshop day β bookings, parts on order, jobs moving, and a customer who always knows where their bike is.
- Comfortable leading. Happy to teach a junior mechanic properly instead of just doing it yourself.
- Bonus: Italjet or Piaggio-family engines, dyno time, or experience setting up plug-in injection modules such as the Malossi Force Master.
How we work
We publish nett prices on the website. We diagnose before we quote. Every bike gets a proper handover instead of a shrug. None of that survives without someone on the floor holding the line on it β which is what this job really is.
The standard we hold hardest: a bike does not come back for the same fault. Overhauls get signed off against a checklist, test-ridden hot and under load, and followed up a week later. If something does come back, we log it and work out what we missed. That discipline is most of what separates this workshop from the one down the road, and it is the part of the job we will be strictest about.

How to apply
Skip the CV essay. Tell us about the hardest fault you've ever traced β what it turned out to be, and how you found it β plus one performance build you're proud of.
